A native of North Carolina, Karen has worked in medical human services all of her life. She is a former licensed dental hygienist. She graduated with honors from Queens University to pursue a deeper calling to become a psychotherapist. Ending a fulfilling career in dentistry, subsequently, she was graduated with a Masters in Social Work with a clinical mental health concentration from UNC-Chapel Hill, and obtained licensure to practice psychotherapy in 2000.
Karen is a certified Internal Family Systems practitioner. She enjoys facilitating group work using the Enneagram Model of Transformation and obtained certification in that model in 1998. She has served in the role of assistant trainer to teach other therapists the Internal Family Systems model of therapy for the Center for Self Leadership in Chicago, Illinois. Her writing has been featured in Today’s Charlotte Woman magazine, and she has been hosted on WFAE Radio.
Along with Karen’s honed skills and ability to see the big picture for developing a roadmap to the resolution you seek, she will work with you to mastermind an efficient use of the time you spend with her to overcome the issues keeping you from happiness. Utilizing the latest in neuroscience research, as described by her clients, Karen’s style is methodical, results driven, empowering, laser-focused, compassionate, educational, and interactive. She works to draw out the inner strengths and resources of her clients, and teaches them how to identify, and play to those strengths and True Authentic Self, which is the place of biggest opportunity and abundance individually and in relationship.
Karen enjoys working with adults (men and women alike) on issues that include developing a deeper sense of happiness, developing the relationship of your dreams, discovering your strengths, and how to apply them to turn challenges in your life into opportunities.
